Instrumentalists: Find a vocalist who respects your contributions and knows why you’re there.

Straight out: If you are an instrumentalist behind a vocalist, chances are that you will probably be treated as the silent partner/red-headed step-child at least once by someone who has no idea what goes into making music. Don’t let it be your vocalist. Music is a collaborative act. You aren’t there to make the vocalist look good. You are BOTH there to make the MUSIC look good.

If the two of you are leading worship, your reason for being there goes WAY beyond the appearance AND the quality of the music. The congregation is part of the collaboration and you are ALL there to worship God Almighty.

Any less and you’ve already lost.
